How long is The Pledge for?

The Pledge is until retirement, but if you want to continue to give past retirement we surely won't stop you!

Are donations tax deductible?

All recommended organizations maintain 501(c)3 status and are therefore tax deductible. You should consult your tax consultant for additional information on how deductions impact your taxes.

Why aren't some popular issues recommended?

Independent researchers on charitable effectiveness believe that even though many problems (e.g. climate change) are real and large, additional donations to this area are unlikely to have as big of an impact as donations to other areas.

Do I have to donate to one of the recommended charities?

No, our only ask is that you donate to the organizations the you believe will most benefit the world.

How much are processing fees?

Donations made to the Giving Alpha portfolios are made through Donational. We’ve negotiated the lowest fee available on any payment processing platform at 5.2%.

Giving Alpha is privately funded and receives no portion of any donations.
